Violence and displacement erode Christian presence in northern Nigeria, report says

Rising killings and abductions, prolonged displacement and continuing insecurity are eroding the Christian presence in parts of northern and north-central Nigeria, according to a research brief released by Open Doors on Thursday (Sept. 3).

Pray →Lord, we lift before You the believers in northern Nigeria where violence and displacement threaten to erase their presence. Be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. As fear and insecurity surround them, sustain their faith with the assurance that You will never leave nor forsake them. Reveal Jesus to those who persecute and abduct, that they might come to know the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Guard the families caught in this unrest, protecting their hearts and minds with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Raise up peacemakers who can bridge divides and heal wounds. To You alone belong power and dominion forever. Amen.

Faithful Shepherd, Your Word says in Ephesians 4:13 that we press on "until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man." You gather many sheep into one flock and grow us up together into Christ.

Christian Man Arrested for Blasphemy in Pakistan

A 26-year-old Christian man, Samuel Arif, has been arrested and sent on judicial remand in Lahore after being accused of blasphemy. The incident has again raised deep concerns among local rights activists and the Christian community regarding the misuse of blasphemy laws to…

Pray →God of Truth, we lift up Samuel Arif in Lahore, who stands under accusation and the weight of blasphemy charges. You alone know the truth of every heart and judge with righteousness, and so we place this case before You, asking for Your justice to prevail. Guard Samuel during his remand and sustain his spirit amidst fear and uncertainty. Let Your peace surround him and his family, pushing back any anxiety or despair. Silence false accusations, and reveal Jesus to the hearts of those who speak against him, that they might encounter grace instead of retaliation. Stand with the believers in Pakistan as they witness to Your truth under pressure. Strengthen them with courage and let their love disarm hostility. To You belong mercy and dominion forever, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

UN experts demand explanation for St Peter’s Church confiscation

Two UN experts sent an official communication to the Islamic Republic of Iran over the summer, demanding a response to allegations that the oldest Protestant church in Iran faced confiscation and the residents of its compound eviction.

Pray →Redeemer, we lift up Iran as St Peter’s Church faces confiscation and its residents the threat of eviction. This place has been a shelter for the weary and a light to many seeking truth. You are our fortress, even when earthly homes are taken away. Defend those who find themselves on shaky ground, strengthen their faith that they might stand firm in Your love, and let them not be moved by fear. Reveal Jesus to Iranian officials and all who watch from afar, showing them the steadfastness of His love that does not falter. Establish justice in this situation and let the plans of those who seek harm be turned back. We look to You, trusting that even amidst these trials, You remain their refuge and strength. Amen.
