When he found Christ, his family declared he was dead

After converting to Christianity, Yasser Eric's family held a funeral to declare him dead, leading him to become an Anglican bishop who helps Christian converts facing persecution.

Pray →Lord God, the One who calls us out of darkness into marvelous light, we lift up Yasser Eric and all who, like him, have found new life in Christ but face rejection from those they love. You see the pain of being disowned and the courage it takes to follow Your Son against all odds. Strengthen Yasser and similar believers with the assurance that they are never alone, for You are their refuge and strength. Establish their hearts in faith, and let Your peace guard their minds in the face of hostility. Reveal Jesus to those who persecute them, that they might see the light of the world and come to know Him as Savior. May Your Church grow through their witness, as they stand firm in love and truth. In Christ, who is our peace, we trust. Amen.

166 Christians in Nigeria remain in captivity, as mass kidnapping brutality is confirmed

A total of 166 Christians remain in captivity in Nigeria following mass kidnappings during church services in Kaduna State on January 18, with armed militants demanding a ransom for their release, according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide.

Pray →God of Deliverance, we lift before You the 166 Christians held captive in Kaduna State, Nigeria, longing for Your intervention. You have declared that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those crushed in spirit. Strengthen the faith of these believers in captivity, that they may know Your presence even in their darkest hour. Disrupt the plans of those who seek ransom and violence, and reveal Jesus to them as the Light that shines in the darkness. Guard the families waiting in anguish, and sustain the church communities rallying in prayer and support. Let Your justice roll down like waters and Your righteousness like an ever-flowing stream across Nigeria. We trust in Your unfailing love and commit this situation to Your hands. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Savior, Amen.
