How a Spontaneous Joke Became an Egyptian State Security Case
By Raymond Ibrahim – Coptic Solidarity – Six young Coptic Christians—aged 17 to 23—have now spent more than two weeks behind bars in Egypt for reenacting a scene from a comedy film. Their alleged offense: insulting Islam.
Pray →God of Truth, we lift up the six young Coptic Christians held in Egypt over a moment of lightheartedness turned severe. You see them in their captivity, and Your heart is for truth to bring freedom. Let their faith remain strong as they wait for justice, and protect their spirit, soul, mind, and body in this time of trial. Reveal Jesus to those who hold influence over their case, and turn hearts from anger to understanding. May truth prevail across Egypt, breaking chains and silencing accusations. Pour out Your Spirit on these young believers, guarding them with peace that surpasses all understanding. For Your glory and in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.
Two Chinese house church leaders detained after police raids
(JIANGXI, CHINA — Oct. 27, 2026) — Two house church leaders remain in criminal detention after police raids that swept up 27 Christians in southeastern China, with authorities alleging illegal border crossings reportedly linked to overseas theological training.
Pray →Lord of Hosts, we lift up the believers in Jiangxi where house church leaders face detention and uncertainty. Guard their hearts and minds as they endure pressure, reminding them that Your peace stands guard even now. Let Your truth shine amid these trials, revealing Jesus to those who oppose and misunderstand His followers. Establish Your Church in this place. Raise up witnesses who will declare Your word with boldness even from behind bars. Let justice roll on like a river, for You are a God who sees and saves to the uttermost. May those who persecute encounter the One whose blood speaks a better word than vengeance and hostility. In the name of Jesus, our Lord and our Deliverer. Amen.
Egypt Frees Six Young Christians Detained Over TikTok Video Mocking Muslim Prayer
Six young Christians, including a 17-year-old boy, have been released in Egypt after spending more than two weeks in detention over a video posted on social media platform TikTok that authorities claimed mocked Muslim prayers, human rights activists confirmed Monday.
Pray →God of Mercy, we give thanks for the release of the six young Christians in Egypt who were detained over a TikTok video. You have extended Your hand of protection and brought them to freedom. May Your merciful presence be evident to them, as David sought to fall into the hands of a merciful God rather than men. Guard these young hearts from fear, strengthen their resolve to stand firm in their faith, and embolden them as they move forward. Let Jesus be revealed to those who detained them and to communities that stand watch. We ask that the Gospel advance openly across Egypt, overcoming misunderstanding and fostering peace. We trust in Your faithful love and ask all these things in the name of Jesus, our Redeemer. Amen.
