The Burma Research Institute (BRI) has confirmed that Rev. William and another Chin Christian, Nam Ceu, were extrajudicially murdered on June 4 by the Burmese military dictatorship. Rev. William had pastored the Chungcung Baptist Church in Chin state for more than 25 years.

Holy One, we bring before You the land of Myanmar, where Rev. William and Nam Ceu have been martyred. You see every injustice and hold the persecutors' hearts in Your hand. Establish Your kingdom reign in Chin state, and let Your justice roll down like waters. Comfort the grieving families with the hope of resurrection, and let their faith be a beacon of light amid darkness. Strengthen the church in Myanmar to stand firm, knowing that Your kingdom is unshakeable. Reveal Jesus to those who wield power through oppression, and let the knowledge of Your glory fill the land. To You belong all power and authority, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
