Lawyer of Junaid Hafeez, a Pakistai scholar imprisoned for 13 years, is hopeful for his release

A former Fulbright scholar, Junaid Hafeez was sentenced to death under Pakistan's controversial blasphemy laws. His family and lawyer told DW there is now hope a court will overturn the conviction.

Pray →God of All Comfort, we lift up Junaid Hafeez in his long imprisonment and the flicker of hope for his release. You see every tear and hear every cry in the darkness, and Your steadfast love is better than life. Sustain him as he waits; let his spirit be strengthened in Your presence. Grant wisdom to those who will judge his case, and restrain all influences that would thwart justice. Reveal Jesus to Junaid's guards and to the officials deciding his fate, breaking through any barriers with the light of truth. Let this trial become a testimony of Your faithfulness and mercy, drawing even those who oppose You to seek Your face. In the name of Jesus Christ, the One who comforts the brokenhearted. Amen.

Forced To Live on a Rooftop for His Faith

A North African Christian perseveres in faith despite longstanding persecution from his family. When Waqar was a university student, he heard the gospel and committed his life to Christ. This angered his father, who cut off financial support and kicked Waqar out of the home.

Pray →Holy God, we bring before You the believers of North Africa who suffer persecution for their faith. Waqar stands firm despite rejection by his family, remembering that those reviled and persecuted for righteousness are blessed and hold a great reward in heaven. Sustain him under Your wings, as You have promised to bless those who endure for Your name’s sake. Let the love of Jesus be so evident in his life that it becomes a light to his family and community. Open the eyes of those who resist the truth, drawing even the hardest hearts toward redemption. Establish Your kingdom in North Africa through lives transformed by Your grace. We ask all these things in Christ's name, who walks with us always. Amen.

Widow Cast Out with No Provisions

The body of Christ is caring for a widow whose family rejected her for her faith in Christ. Toon Simom, 73, is a widow from a Laotian minority group and has followed Christ for five years. She had lived with her only daughter, Thon, since Toon's husband died in 2006.

Pray →God of All Comfort, we lift up Toon Simom and the believers in Laos who now care for her after she was cast out by her family. You are near to the brokenhearted and save those crushed in spirit. We ask You to strengthen the church around her, equipping them to provide for Toon and others rejected for faith in Jesus. Pour out Your Spirit upon these communities, so that they may embody true religion by looking after widows in their distress. Open the hearts of those who have turned away, that they might be drawn to Your kindness. Reveal Jesus to those who scorned her decision to follow Him, and let many come to know His saving grace. We ask all this for the glory of Your name. Amen.

Police in southern China seize Gospel materials, force church from meeting space

(Guangzhou — September 30, 2026) Police in southern China confiscated Gospel materials and forced a long-established house church from its rented meeting space after three Christians distributed fans printed with Gospel messages near a school, according to local Christians.

Pray →Living God, we lift up the believers in Guangzhou, standing firm as their meeting space is seized and Gospel materials confiscated. You call Your children to labor for the bread that endures — reveal to them that their work in Christ is not in vain. Guard these believers as they face pressure and upheaval, and make a way where there seems to be none. Reveal Jesus to officials who have followed orders against Your people, showing them that true service is believing in the One You sent. Let these acts of intimidation become opportunities for Your kingdom to advance and shine through every darkened corner of Guangzhou. For Yours is the power and glory forever. Amen.
